Is there a way to find out the actual furniture manufacturer of Crate and Barrel and Restoration Hardware? I would like to see if there is a way to go direct or cheaper method than through C&R, Restoration Hardware, or even Pottery Barn. I like there styles (all vary similar). Any help would be appreciated.

Penn_Goddess replied: "The two ladies above are incorrect. It depends on the item you want. Most of the appliances are available through manufactures and the names are usually listed in the catalog. Do an internet search for that item and a store or distibuter besides the mentioned stores will come up. I must say though often the price isn't THAT much different. Many manufactures make very simular models of what you see in those stores but they make a style with a extra button or negligible feature or shape and call it "exclusive". The sheets and such can be found on Ebay.com and Overstock.com sometimes a season late but naturally of same quality. You have to know what you are looking for because Overstock may not list manufacturer. I've done this so I am sure of it, Good luck with your shopping."

quietgiant replied: "I ama contractor and I do work for several builders ,and many use restoration hardware,but it depends on the style of home they are building....if they are building a turn of the century home wether it is a colonial or farmhouse,victorian,qyeen anne, if is is a period style home ,they will usr restoration hardware as they claim they have the best quality and selection for those type of homes."

Diane A replied: "I am an interior designer & I shop there--I like their color palettes and the fact that much of the bedding will coordinate; their towels are very thick & nice. Have not bought their plumbing, but do like their lighting (I get a discount as well) and I love their colored cleaning products. Pretty decent quality of items, most in stock, decent prices with discount & sales...:)"

eskie lover replied: "You can check at San Diego Hardware and Expo design for a knock off (both have websites) or search the internet sites for similar designs. But, that being said, Restoration Hardware has patents on most of its designs and they will be difficult to exactly replicate, but you can come close."

Has anyone done their nursery from the restoration hardware baby and child catalog? I'm thinking of doing my nursery from the catalog in the pink and chocolate (not available in stores) but its very expensive and before I dish it out, I was wondering if anyone has ordered from the catalog and if they were pleased.

Ally K replied: "I looked and was considering ordering from there and thought the prices were comparable to similar items in baby stores especially if the sets are the same quality of their other stuff that they sell. Pink and brown are my colors and I have been looking at some ideas on this page: The problem that I had with the set from Restoration Hardware that had the look that I wanted for my nursery had corduroy fabric and I wasn't interested in completely re-doing the room in the spring which I feel would be necessary as corduroy would look out of season once we got past winter.
